About Us

Meet our staff

We are a group of AAPI creatives thirsty for new work that challenges the status quo. We are bold and experimental, and we value our connections within our community. Together, we create and devise art using multiple mediums such as musical theatre, playback theatre, documentary theatre, film, and projections. 

President and Artistic Director of Yun Theatre

Christie Zhao (She/Her) is originally from Wuhu, Anhui. She is a Seattle-based theatre director, performer, and interdisciplinary artist. She is passionate about building community and creating bold art to challenge the status quo. Christie Zhao (She/Her) is originally from Wuhu, Anhui. She is a Seattle-based theatre director, performer, and interdisciplinary artist. She is passionate about building community and creating bold art to challenge the status quo. She just directed an original devised theatre work Monologues of n Women at Theatre Puget Sound, and her past work includes an online adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s The Good Person of Szechwan. She also has performed in Heart of Stone directed by Alisher Khasanov and Bodies of Water directed by Porscha Shaw and Sheila Daniels. Recently, she founded a nonprofit organization, Yun Theatre, to create more bilingual theaters in Seattle. 


Vice President and Resident Composer of Yun Theatre

YUELAN (they/them) is a queer Chinese-American musician and artist currently based in Seattle. They have composed music for Christie's productions of The Good Person and Monologues of n Women, and currently work with Yun Theatre as their resident composer as well. Additionally, they have released music with the UW Songwriter's Circle - a 

YUELAN (they/them) is a queer Chinese-American musician and artist currently based in Seattle. They have composed music for Christie's productions of The Good Person and Monologues of n Women, and currently work with Yun Theatre as their resident composer as well. Additionally, they have released music with the UW Songwriter's Circle - a song titled Meteors, which can be found on all streaming platforms with the Songwriter Circle's first album, Escapisms. Vice President and Production Manager of Yun Theatre

Harvey Yang graduated from Cornell University and Drexel University. He is currently a Software Engineer at Oracle. He participated in the creation of several improv plays, including The Birth of a Thief, L'Étranger, and Grasse. He also stage-managed Monologues of n Women. He likes dazing, fantasizing, and buying a lot of useless things. He is bullied every day by a dog named Rainier.

Director of Development and Graphic Designer of Yun Theatre

Xun Wang graduated from Sam Fox School, Washington University in St. Louis. He is an architectural designer, graphic designer, set designer, and overall just a really funny person. He is good at bringing people together.

Secretary and Director of Marketing of Yun Theatre

Leon Chan (he/him) is a current student at the University of Washington. He has explored various aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, designing sound, props, and working in marketing, house, and editing. He is curious and always open to learning new things. His recent experience includes working as the marketing d

Leon Chan (he/him) is a current student at the University of Washington. He has explored various aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, designing sound, props, and working in marketing, house, and editing. He is curious and always open to learning new things. His recent experience includes working as the marketing director, sound designer, and props master for Monologues of n Women.

Zoey (Xuan) Wang graduated from University of Washington and she's currently managing all things digital marketing at a tech company. Zoey enjoys almost all types of live performances, she also loves traveling and checking out new restaurants. She now lives in Seattle with her cat Puff. 

Resident Costume Designer of Yun Theatre

Tianxing Yan is an artist and visual thinker from China. She received her MFA in costume design at the University of California, Davis. Her designs have been seen in the San Francisco Bay area as well as Los Angeles, Sacramento, Denver, Beijing, Guangzhou and online streams. Her recent work includes Antigone NOW, Peter and the Starcatcher

Treasurer of Yun Theatre

Shuya (Julia) Li graduated from Penn State University (go Nittany lions!) and currently works in accounting advisory. She has a strong interest in theatre and hopes to explore different possibilities through production and performance.
